Gaur Purnima 2018

Gaur Purnima 2018 Celebrations at our Temple in Navadvipa

Our Temple lit up like a bride for Dol Purnima 2018

As every year, the holy day of Gaur Purnima 2018 was celebrated with great devotion. As it is also the advent day of our beloved Guru, the day is specially holy. We had the most amazing serving of the divine pastimes of Radha and Krishna, of Gauranga Mahaprabhu through lila kirtan. The nectar of the Holy Name purified us so much, sung in Raga by the melodious kirtanias. Once a holy Vaishnav sage had told me: Lila Kirtan is a brilliant jewel that Bengal has offered the world.

The main temple newly renovated

The Deities wore gorgeous attires, fragrant garlands, and were adored by all of us to our hearts content. The special feasts prepared for the Deities were partaken by us as holy prasad, definitely giving us the feel of 'soul food'. The festivities in the temple and around the whole town, the fairy lights everywhere, the parikramas, the special hustle and bustle, shops selling puja items filled everyone with a joyous spirit. The majestic Ma Ganga is a sight to behold! No matter where the Gaudiya Vaishnavs are, at this time, they all arrive in the holy land of Navadvipa to partake of the special fervour and devotion that pulsates in this land on Gaur Purnima.

I am always reminded of these lines of Vasudev Ghosh in the midst of my joy:

yadi gaura na hoito, tabe ki hoito, kemone dharitam de
radhar mahima, prema-rasa-sima,
jagate janato ke

(If Lord Gaura had not appeared as the yuga-avatara in this age of Kali, then what would have become of us? How could we have gone on living? Who would have revealed the ecstatic and hitherto unimagined love of Sri Radha?)

Our Gurdev's Samadhi Mandir

Navadvipa is a spiritual field, a Kshetra of bhakti. The one who knows the significance of space and time, will open their energy field fully to take in the special vibrations that pulses here at this time. They can partake of the subtle rasas of bhakti.. and with the blessings of their Guru can enter the divine lila through their own meditations and japa. Dol Purnima is an experiential adventure. One has to feel it, imbibe it, take it in. The one who is blessed takes back a treasure in their heart every time.

Our beloved Deities

Navadvipa Dhama ~ the Love Locked Land!

All Glory to Guru & Gauranga! Navadvipa Dhama ~ the Love locked land! The transcendental nature of Navadvipa is revealed in a big way in all its beauty during the Dol Purnima festival. This is such a maddeningly magical time. There is so much one can do to taste the nectar of devotion. The ashrams are bursting at the seams with devotees ~ even a toehold during the discourses pouring out of the mouths of saints is a blessing. The temples are so beautifully decorated, the Dieties look ravishing, and the pilgrimage of the islands bestows blissfull blisters! Bathing in the Ganges, eating the prasad that has been offered to the Lord clears all body ailments and one feels the vitality of good health. What I also love very much is the sense of community, as people from all over the world congregate with the single intent to serve Lord Gauranga. One is instantly uplifted in this collective consciousness. The Holy Festival of Colours! Navadvipa ~ the land of nine islan...
The Harmonist THE RATHA YATRA OF PURI OM VISHNUPAD 108 TRIDANDI SWAMI SRI SRIMAT BHAKTI SRAVAN TIRTHA GOSWAMI Shree Shree Jagannath is the beloved deity of the Vast sea of humanity -, of one and all. ‘Jagat’ means ‘Universe ‘ and ‘Nath’ means ‘Lord’. Hence, the name, ‘Lord of the Universe’ or ‘Lord Jagannath’. Lord Jagannathis considered to be the Supreme God, head of the pantheon of Indian deities and his abode ‘Puri’ is considered to be the most sacred of all four ‘dhamas’ – places of pilgrimage. He is also said to be the ‘Uttam-Purusha’ meaning ‘the best and highest of mankind’ or, ‘Purushottam’. Puri is also named as ‘Purushottam Kshetra’ or ‘Sri Kshetra’. The wooden image of Lord Jagannath is unique in the sense that all religions seem to have some sort of affinity and irresistible attraction, spiritual experience and a great reverence for this particular ‘God-head’. This can be confirmed from the texts of ‘Dadavya-Bhakti’, where one comes across the devotions of saints, religious...
GAURA GADADHAR Om Sri Sri Vishnupad 108 TRIDANDISWAMI BHAKTI SRAVAN TIRTHA MAHARAJ In the BELATI Village of Chattagram Dist lived Madhav Mishra & his wife Ratnawati. They had two sons who were called Baninath & Gadadhar. Madhav Mishra left Chattagram & moved to Navadwip. This was the birthplace of Gadadhar. Gadadhar was a childhood friend of Nimai Pandit, and both were students in the same “Tol”. They used to discuss various topics about transcendent literature together. Their teacher was Sri Advaita Acharya. On the way to their “Tol” (School) Nimai Pandit caught hold of Gadadhar & told him “What do you think of yourself, you think you are a really a great pundit”? Gadadhar who excelled in debating was asked, “What are the symptoms of a liberated soul”? Gadadhar gave his explanation with support from the scriptures. Nimai told him that he had given an absolutely wrong answer. Nimai said, the display of severe pain & unhappiness are the symptoms of a liber...
